Meditations for the Restless
directed/edited/shot/music by romeo candido
meditations for the restless is romeo candidos first attempt at a short form media piece. it was shot in 17 minutes and edited for the 18 hours following...straight. it is a commentary on our generations rootlessness and search for meaning above the options that society presents. the sound design and editing style are meant to emulate the glitches of the mind when trapped in useless circular thinking. fuck the budget to make a 'normal' music video.

Patriot Act
This vignette is a multimedia exploration of how we define patriotism and terrorism since September 11th. Sound clips from random street interviews are used to create a barrage of voices and opinions reflective of a larger community. The sensory experience continues through music and song which showcases two examples of patriotism. One is a soulful reinterpretation of the anthem and the other is a new construction of an anthem critical of our government. Visual projections are also used to provide information and analysis of the recently enacted USA-PATRIOT Act. The entire vignette is meant to examine social and personal responses to issues of terror, national pride, security and safety.

Before After/Before Again
September 11, 2001 is, for so many, a date that
will live in infamy as a reminder of the tragedies of life. In its
wake we've each proclaimed, whispered or thought to ourselves, "Life
will never be the same." At least once. Before, After and Before
(Again) takes a look at four individual, personal stories during these
"once-in-a-lifetime" times, analyzing their lives before
9-11, immediately after, and six months later, asking along the way,
how have our lives really been affected, and how do we get back to,
or redefine for ourselves, what "normal" is?

Travelers I
An interview with a Pakistani-American Trauma Specialist for O'Hare describing his experiences from 9/11 merges with ambient sounds and propelling rhythms to create a unique musical soundscape... or so we hope.

The Interrogation
Laura and Cara are both Hapa (1/2 Asian 1/2
Caucasian) but the interrogator believes they are lying about their
true identity. Laura is accused of being Mexican and Cara is accused
of being Italian and there is proof. Both have been caught in white
lies and there is circumstantial evidence that they are not who they
say they are. This act explores the issues of racial identity and
the society's perception of race.

Desktop Poet
"Desktop Poet" details the creation of a poetry
collage regarding the September 11 attacks. All the lines and words
of the poem are taken from existing sources such as news sites, email
links, and even instant messages. This presentation attempts to show
how the attacks and their aftermath have permeated our everyday lives.
It also shows that poetry is all around us, if we know how and where
to look.
