Highlights for this summer’s YAWP!:
*this summer
we’re working on not only the
writing of our stories but also the performance of our words. we’re
going back to the informal
workshop format where you’ll be able to work on your writing;
learn to be comfortable performing and reading your works; and learn about
our collective history and struggles through the words and images of those
who have come before us.
*this summer we’re also coming together with “Performing
Legacy” a writing workshop which Anida Yoeu Esguerra developed
specifically to address the needs of Cambodian American youth. Performing
Legacy is a group of young Cambodian Americans who all took a risk
in sharing stories, songs, and dreams with each other. Through performance
games, exercises, and writing prompts, youth learned to unravel and capture
the unique details of their lives in order to better appreciate their
extraordinary power as young people.
